The best kept secret on the Sunshine Coast is tucked just off the main road, 5 minutes South of Austalia Zoo. Parrots in Paradise is a privately owned bird park dedicated to Conservation and Preservation through Education and Entertainment. As well as providing private and Exclusive \\\'Hobby Home Shows\\\' for groups and families, we are a Breeding Establishment. We also run an Avian Boarding Facility, and additional to all this we provide an Advice Service for people experiencing behavioural problems or difficulties with their parrots.

Our beautiful Asiatic Parrots are trained to perform tricks. Please be asured, all the little stunts and abilities they have are extensions of the natural behaviour they would perform in the wild. Being highly inteligent the birds love to perform. For them it is play and mental stimulation. For Parrots in Paradise, that our visitors delight in their play is secondary to meeting the needs of these clever and gregarious creatures.

We work with positive reward, praise and treats. At no point ever are our parrots asked to do something they do not want to do, nor are they ever scolded, punished or reprimanded. Knowing that the birds are having a ball makes the show great fun for young and old. The ability of the parrots to solve puzzles and the extent of their cognitive behaviour has to be seen to be believed. You can teach a parrot tricks, you can\\\'t teach it to be clever.... they hatch into the world with a high I.Q.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before the show, on arrival are offered a cup of complimentary tea or coffee, (we do not provide food, however you are more than welcome to bring your own.)and then invited up to take a seat and enjoy our show in our covered Birdatorium.

During the show

Our show is in two parts, first part is getting introduced to our Australian parrots from our little Bush Budgie up to our Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, that takes about 25 minutes.

Then our Alexandrines jump into action performing all sorts of tricks. Acompanied by the smart comments from a group of Eclectus. Approx another 25 minutes. 

For the birds when they perform is actually a creative fun and play day. All the tricks they perform are extentions of natural parrot behaviour. In fact while they are enjoying themselves, being the centre of attention, they are actually showing how incredibly clever and intelligent they are, and their understanding, puzzle solving, and their cognitive behavior has to be seen to be believed.

After the Show

After visitors are invited up to the visit the birds in the aviaries, we are a breeding establishment as well. When the breeding season is on you get to see, and in some cases get to make friends with the babies.

Some of our groups like to enjoy a picnic in our park by the dam, make friends with our many animals, miniature cows, goats, deer, native black swans, geese or cats, while others like to go on for lunch to one of our many pleasant local spots.

While we mainly cater for group bookings, families are very welcome to join in with any groups that have booked.
