
Donated by the family of pioneer conservationist, Mary Thynne (nee Cairncross, born in 1848), this exquisite sanctuary of 52 hectares (more than 130 acres) of original rainforest, shelters an amazing diversity of bird life and small mammals. Among the many tree species identified by small signs, are Red Cedar, White Beech, Silver Ash, Black Bean, the Giant Stinger, strangler figs and Bangalow palms as well as epiphytes such as elkhorn and staghorn ferns and orchids.
Near the Reserve’s entrance the Thynne Natural History Education Centre opens daily.
Picnic facilities, children's playground, BBQ’s and toilets are provided. Wheelchair access is possible.
Volunteers are available to answer questions and guided walks can be arranged by appointment.
