Tom McAulay's Outback

Art on Cairncross at Maleny presents an exhibition by noted Queensland artist Tom McAulay with timeless depictions of life in the outback. From cattle mustering to hanging out the washing; from sheep dogs to brolgas dancing' life on the land is shown for its harsh reality and for its moments of beauty.

McAulay's portraits of stockmen in charcoals and acrylics, capture the wear and tear of hard work along with the wisdom of experience in their eyes. The bush races, a boy flying a kite and even a couple of stockmen playing pool show the lighter side of life away from the city.
