At 2pm on Sunday 27th June, at the Caloundra Uniting Church, (cnr of Queen and Ulm Sts., Caloundra), the Sunshine Coast Concert Band, will present a programme of popular tunes, including "Memory" from the musical CATS, and the old favourites "Memories" and "Memory Lane" - hence the title of the concert.
But there'll also be some Dixie groups, Ian Edwards solos, some Billy Joel, "Swing" numbers, an Irving Berlin Medley, a couple of stirring marches, and even some Al Jolson songs. As usual, there'll be a great variety of musical styles - something for everyone.
This 40 piece award-winning band with Music Director Ken Chadwick OAM, will be accompanied by singers Alan Winter, Bev Gourlay, Aart Schouten and Ken Farrow.
The admission of $10 at the door (which includes afternoon tea), will raise funds for the Cittamani Hospice, - a not-for-profit community organisation which gives support to terminally ill patients and their families - a most worthy cause.
AND:
This happy group of musicians is also encouraging wind instrumentalists of a reasonable (but not necessarily, outstanding) standard to join them.
