The first Modern Roller Derby bout is set to hit the Sunshine Coast!! Coastal Assassins Roller Derby is proud to present Brisbane City Rollers to bring a Demo Bout the Sunshine Coast will never forget and will leave the Coast screaming for more!!
In a nutshell Roller Derby is played with two teams each consisting of a Jammer, 3 Blockers and a Pivot (a specialised blocker). A maximum of 5 players from each team are allowed on the track during each Jam. Each Jam lasts until the lead jammer calls off the Jam or for 2mins. During the Jam, the Jammers from each team are trying to score as many points for their team as possible by passing the opposing blockers. Lead Jammer status is established on the first pass through the pack and the consecutive passes accrue points. The blockers job is to both assist their Jammer through the pack and to block the opposing Jammer from getting through the pack.
Roller Derby is a fast paced full contact sport which is visually spectacular and not to be missed!!
